A sentence marked ＊ is not a quotation from the scriptures. It was written for this book using only the grammar taught so far, or comes from another source. 《 》 shows the teaching it is based on.
A sentence without ＊ is a real line from the official scriptures or sutras. When you quote the teachings, use only sentences without ＊.

English glosses follow the official glossaries and the official English editions of the scriptures.
